If you look at the historical narrative of art, we do have to contend with this idea of the "Old Masters.” And I had to recognize that in that pantheon of Old Masters, there are no Black Old Masters.

Beauty and Grace

This series of paintings reflect the multifaceted aspects of a Black experience, as I hope to show the inherent beauty and grace in capturing Black subjects with intention and nuance. This is how I hope to imagine Black Old Masters would’ve inspire me if I’d seen their works on museum walls and textbooks.
